Collections Specialist Opening

Collection Specialist (full-time, salaried)

Responsibilities to include:  providing high quality service and assistance to customers, processing property tax payments, specialized functions (processing bankruptcy, tax certificates, delinquent tax suits, etc.), cross-training with support staff, maintaining accurate payment records, scanning and archiving documents, attendance of offsite training and testing for state licensing.  

Education/Experience/Skills:  High School Diploma or GED required; TDLR Registered Tax Collector or Assessor preferred.  Must possess excellent communication (bilingual preferred) and customer service skills. Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Banking and/or cash handling experience is preferred. Must have well-developed written communication skills, ability to maintain professionalism and solve problems in a stressful and dynamic environment, be adept at time management and multitasking, have knowledge of basic accounting principles, proven proficiency utilizing computers and mobile platforms, and skilled at using current versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.  

Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods.  Must be able to lift and carry up to 25lbs.

Salary: Base salary is $34,000; however, salary will be contingent upon experience and qualifications.

Qualified candidates selected for an interview will be administered a written and oral skills test.  Additionally, final candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal background check prior to employment, and may be subject to a financial credit check and drug screening.
