Pursuant to new Texas Property Tax Code ‘Truth-in-Taxation’ requirements added by Senate Bill 2 from the 86th legislative session, property owners in Van Zandt County will be receiving a postcard directing them to the website https://vanzandt.countytaxrates.com/tax that is a local property tax database. This local tax database contains account specific estimates of the amount of tax that each entity will impose if the entity adopts its proposed tax rate. This database will be updated regularly throughout August and September as local elected officials propose and adopt the property tax rates that determine how much you pay in property tax. Property owners can use this information to gain knowledge, provide feedback, and engage with entity officials about tax rate proposals at public meetings.

Van Zandt County Appraisal District is responsible for appraising all real and business personal property within Van Zandt County. The district appraises property according to the Texas Property Tax Code and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP).
The District strictly adheres to the Texas Property Tax Code to provide equality and accurate assessments for its constituents and tax base. Van Zandt County Appraisal District is responsible for the fair market appraisal of properties within each of the following taxing entities. Additional responsibilities include serving as the consolidated Property Tax Assessment and Collection office for Van Zandt County and the majority of entities within the District’s jurisdiction.
